MANASSAS, Va. (7News) — A 21-year-old Prince William County man has been arrested after a 16-year-old girl was killed when two shooters exchanged gunfire near the railroad tracks in Old Town Manassas, police said Saturday.
The Manassas Police Department identified the arrested suspect as Tasheem Douglas. Detectives believe Douglas fired the shot that struck and killed the girl, who investigators described as an innocent bystander.

Douglas was taken into custody at a hospital. Police did not release information about his injuries or explain why he was hospitalized.
He is charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon. A photograph of Douglas was not immediately available.
The shooting occurred Friday evening in Old Town Manassas during a crowded First Friday event, police said.
Investigators said they believe the two shooters exchanged gunfire near the railroad tracks before fleeing the immediate area.
Police initially reported two victims: the teenage girl, who was pronounced dead, and a 21-year-old man. Authorities have not released either victim’s identity or provided additional information about the man’s condition.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify and locate any additional people involved.

Police said community members have already provided substantial assistance, but investigators are continuing to seek witnesses and evidence. Anyone who was in Old Town Manassas at the time of the shooting or has photographs, cellphone video or doorbell-camera footage is asked to contact Detective Urey at 703-257-8043.
Digital photographs and videos may also be submitted directly to investigators through the department’s secure evidence portal.
Police said they will release additional information when appropriate.
