GERMANTOWN, Md. (7News) — At least one person is dead and seven juveniles are injured after a two-vehicle crash involving an overturned vehicle that caught fire Tuesday morning in Germantown, according to Montgomery County police.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to the crash at the intersection of Clopper Road and Great Seneca Highway around 5:30 a.m. Fire officials said the crash involved two vehicles, with people trapped inside each.

Crews rescued two people from the cars after quickly extinguishing a small fire in one of the vehicles.

Police now say there were a total of eight people involved in the crash, one adult male and seven juveniles. The man, who was the sole occupant of a blue vehicle, died at the scene, according to police.
The seven kids, who ranged in age from 12 to 15, were all riding in a white vehicle and were taken to area hospitals with injuries. Some of them are in critical condition.
Investigators said there were no adults inside the white vehicle. Police also said none of the juveniles were old enough to be legally driving.
As of Tuesday morning, the intersection remained shut down and roads are expected to be closed for several hours.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
