2 Montgomery County students in custody after weapons found, school on ‘hold status’

A15-year-old student has been charged following two separate weapon incidents at Magruder High School in Montgomery County, according to police.

Police said one student was found in possession of a knife, while another was found with a BB gun. It is not clear which student had which weapon.

The first incident involved an altercation between a student and a staff member in which a weapon was alleged and later found, according to a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) spokesperson.

In a separate incident, another student was suspected of having a weapon.

Montgomery County police said the 15-year-old was charged with assault and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.

MCPS had placed the school in a hold status, but since resumed normal operations, and officers have cleared the building.

The incidents come just over a week after the first day of school for MCPS students.

The investigation remains ongoing.
