PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — At least three people were injured after a crash involving a fleeing vehicle in Brandywine Tuesday morning, according to 7News’ sources and Prince George’s County fire officials.
Arlington County police were monitoring a car believed to be occupied by someone with multiple outstanding warrants, the source said. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) later attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle drove off after one occupant got out.
Deputies pursued the vehicle for about five miles before ending the chase, according to sources.
About three minutes later near Substation Road, the vehicle crossed the median and started driving north in the southbound lanes of Crain Highway/US-301. It then crashed into uninvolved vehicles, sources said.
Three people had to be pulled from vehicles, fire officials said. Two people from the suspect vehicle were injured — one critically and the other had minor injuries, sources said.
The drivers in the other vehicles were not seriously hurt.

The crash shut down all southbound lanes of US-301 near MD-5 in Prince George’s County. As of 10:56 a.m., all travel lanes were blocked at the county line, and delays were building in the area.
Drivers approaching the area should follow police directions and allow extra time for their commute.
Maryland State Police is investigating the crash.
