4 people displaced after air fryer on stovetop sparks Germantown house fire

A kitchen fire at a Germantown home Monday night displaced four people, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).

Firefighters responded to the 19000 block of Gallop Drive near Steeple Road around 8:08 p.m. after receiving a report of a fire in the kitchen, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said in posts on social media.

The fire was extinguished, and firefighters checked for extension to other parts of the home. All occupants had gotten out safely, and no injuries were reported.

Piringer said the preliminary investigation determined the fire was accidental and originated when an air fryer was on the stovetop while a burner was on.

A residential sprinkler system activated and helped contain the fire.

The fire caused an estimated $70,000 in damage and displaced two adults and two children, according to MCFRS.
