Amazon Data Services has purchased a T. Rowe Price Group office building in Owings Mills for $15.2 million, but officials offered no details on plans for the site’s long-term use.

A spokesperson confirmed Amazon’s purchase of the 30-year-old building on nine acres on Cronridge Drive. The sale closed on April 8, according to Maryland property records.

The tech giant has no plans to build data centers on the property, the spokesperson said. She offered no additional details.

Some communities have objected to massive data centers needed to power artificial intelligence and other technology, citing concerns about utility costs and land use. And several Maryland jurisdictions have either paused or are considering freezes on data center development.
