Anne Arundel County woman sentenced for 2 felony theft schemes

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Attorney General Anthony Brown announced Wednesday an Anne Arundel County woman was sentenced for two separate felony theft schemes. The combined loss for the schemes was $185,296, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maryland.

Carolyn Rae Aldridge, 56, of Crofton, was sentenced to five years incarceration, suspending all but 173 days, for the first scheme involving ABC Builders.

After release, Aldridge will be on supervised probation for five years. She is also required to pay $173,004 in restitution to ABC Builders.

In the second scheme involving the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF), Aldridge was sentenced to five years incarceration, all suspended. At the sentencing hearing, Aldridge paid $12,291 in restitution to MAIF.

Between August 2017 and January 2021, Aldridge stole 96 checks from American Builders Corporation, Inc. (ABC Builders) for a total loss of $173,004.

Aldridge worked as ABC Builders’ office manager, using her position to steal these checks and deposit them into her personal bank account. ABC Builders is an Anne Arundel County based small business engaged in home improvement and general contracting services.

In the second theft scheme, from January 2020 to February 2021, Aldridge stole 13 checks from MAIF for a total loss of $12,291.

Aldridge stole these checks while working as an associate in MAIF’s fiscal department. All the checks were deposited into her personal bank account.

In June 2025, Aldridge was charged with both felony theft schemes and she pleaded guilty to those schemes in March 2026.
