BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Department of Transportation (DOT) Director Veronica C. Perry, formerly known as McBeth, is resigning from her position, with her last day being October 1, 2026, the Mayor’s office announced Wednesday.
“I want to thank outgoing Director Perry for her service to the City of Baltimore and her leadership of DOT,” Mayor Brandon Scott said in a press release. “I am confident that the entire department will continue the critical work of maintaining and strengthening our transportation infrastructure day in and day out, and I want to thank Interim Director Attila for stepping into this role as we search for our next DOT Director.”
Berke Attila, Director of the Department of General Services(DGS), will serve as interim director of the DOT, while Terrel Chessen, Deputy Director of DGS, will serve as interim director of DGS, according to the Mayor’s office.
Perry has served as the DOT Director since January 2025. The reason for her resignation has not been disclosed by officials.
As DOT Director, Perry oversaw the launch of Repave Baltimore, reimagining the DOT’s road resurfacing program, and secured unanimous support from the Board of Estimates to bring the City’s underground conduit system repair and maintenance back in-house.
