BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Baltimore man and convicted felon has been charged with federal gun charges in connection with a domestic violence dispute, according to the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Marquis Thomas, 34, of Baltimore, is charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.
At the time of the offense, Thomas, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a gun, and authorities said he knowingly possessed a Hi-Point JHP .45 Auto Pistol that was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition. That gun also had an obliterated serial number.
Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, announced the indictment, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathleen Godwin is prosecuting this case.
According to public filings, on October 30, 2025, Baltimore Police Department received a call about a domestic-assault involving a firearm.
When police arrived at the residence, the victim opened the door and told officers that Thomas left the premises.
Then, the victim then led law enforcement into the living room and pointed to a gun on the couch.
The victim reported that Thomas hit her in the face three times before pointing a gun at her, saying, “I should kill you right now.”
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office — in partnership with our federal, local, and state partners — works hard to keep firearms out of the hands of those who are not authorized to carry them. This helps prevent violence and saves lives,” Hayes said, via a press release. “We support prioritizing our residents’ safety and well-being through our commitment to community trust, strategic enforcement, and violence prevention, especially for those experiencing intimate-partner violence.”
