Harford County Public Schools to dismiss early, close due to heat, air conditioning issues

Harford County Public Schools are closing or dismissing early on Friday due to high heat in Maryland, and air conditioning issues in their buildings.

This notice was posted on the school system’s website:

SCHOOL CLOSURES AND EARLY DISMISSAL FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 2026

Edgewood Elementary School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. – This is due to issues impacting the air conditioning in the building. There will be no after school or evening activities.

Havre de Grace High will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. and Havre de Grace Middle will dismiss at 11:45 a.m. – This is due to a broken pipe impacting the air conditioning in the building. All after school/evening activities are cancelled.

Edgewood High School will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. – This is due to chillers not working at full capacity, impacting the air conditioning. All after school/evening activities are cancelled.

Abingdon Elementary School is CLOSED today, Friday, June 12, 2026- There will be no school or after school activities today. Due to a chiller being down, there is no air conditioning in the school.

Aberdeen High will dismiss TODAY, Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. – This is due to chillers not working at full capacity, impacting the air conditioning. All afterschool/evening activities are cancelled.
