BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — The Baltimore Police Department has released body-worn camera footage from the officer-involved shooting on May 14 in the 3300 block of Wilkens Avenue.
Authorities released the footage at a press conference on Friday.
You can watch the release in the above video.
On May 14, around 9:10 a.m., officers received multiple calls about an attempted suicide involving an armed individual in the 800 block of Caton Avenue.
Upon arrival, a male suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Louis Jackson, began firing shots at an officer’s vehicle.
According to Deputy Police Commissioner Kevin Jones, police stopped their vehicle and attempted to de-escalate the situation by giving Jackson verbal commands to drop the weapon and get on the ground.
Jackson ignored the commands and continued firing at officers, Jones said.
Then, two officers returned fire, hitting Jackson.
Those officers were identified as Sharod Watson, a 13-year veteran, and Mark Rankine, a 3-year veteran.
Police rendered aid before Jackson was transported to Saint Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
