Baltimore Police to hold Inner Harbor DUI checkpoint on August 22

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore Police will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, August 22 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the 400 block of Key Highway in an effort to prevent impaired driving and promote driving safety.

Authorities said the checkpoint location in the Inner Harbor was chosen through operational planning and an analysis of traffic safety needs.

Officers will provide drivers with educational materials emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving and encouraging responsible driving habits.

Drivers who police determine to be operating a vehicle while impaired may be subject to a citation and/or arrest.

The Baltimore Police Department said it’s committed to improving safety on the roads through “proactive enforcement, public education, and community engagement.”

By focusing on high-risk areas and impaired driving enforcement, BPD said it’s continuing to support Maryland’s goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths on state roads.
