CARROLL COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — State fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a two-story single-family home in Mt. Airy on Sunday afternoon.
The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal said the fire was reported at 4:40 p.m. at 2563 Vance Drive in Carroll County. A neighbor discovered the blaze, which started on a rear deck, according to investigators.
No one was injured or killed in the fire, officials said. Damage is estimated at $600,000.
The Winfield Fire Company responded to the scene, and the fire was brought under control in about two hours. About 80 firefighters worked on the one-alarm fire, officials said. The cause remains under investigation.
