WASHINGTON (TNND) — From investigating fraud, to prediction markets, and the California prison digital tablet program, the House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman Rep. James Comer,R-Ky., is tackling a wide variety of topics affecting millions of Americans.
Comer told The National News Desk in an exclusive interview Tuesday that the committee has been quite busy, with 65-75 open probes.
We have about 40 ongoing investigations where we’re doing depositions and transcribed interviews, so we have a very aggressive schedule,” said Comer.
During the interview, Comer took a deep dive into some of the committee’s ongoing cases. Including how their fraud efforts differ from those of other entities, like the Trump administration and Vice President JD Vance’s anti-fraud task force.
All we can do in Congress is investigate. We can use the bully pulpit of the House Oversight Committee. I think it’s the most high profile committee in Congress,” Comer said. “With his task force, he’s actually working with attorneys general, he’s working with the DOJ. So he has more power than we have and a bigger bully pulpit than we have,” Comer added.
When asked about possible testimony from Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., whose currently being looked into regarding both her personal finances and potential connections to the ‘Feeding Our Future’ fraud scheme, Comer said the only committee that can investigate other members of Congress is the House Ethics Committee.
That’s a 50/50 committee. So it’s 50% Democrat, 50% Republican. What I found in my ten years in Congress, is that the Democrats whether they’re on the Ethics committee or the Oversight committee, the one thing they have in common is that they’re only interested in investigating Republicans, so I don’t know how the investigation is going with Omar,” said Comer.
Comer used the word ‘accountability’ throughout the interview. Saying one of his biggest frustrations has been the lack of accountability when it comes to holding fraudsters responsible for their actions.
We’ve given criminal referrals on the Biden family. We’ve given criminal referrals on Dr. Fauci. We’ve had referrals on other fraudsters and instances of waste, fraud and abuse. There didn’t seem like there was a lot of interest in the DOJ to do something about it. Now there is,” Comer said.
Comer also noted, expect more to be shared regarding the Epstein investigation. Pointing to recent testimony, which revealed new information.
We had one of the victims testify last week in a deposition and she actually named some names and this the first time any victim has named names,” said Comer. “Now we had the first victim come forward and now there are some others reaching out, wanting to tell us some more names,” Comer added.

The Congressman also said, the most shocking thing he’s learned about the fraud in Minnesota is the welfare and autism fraud taking place. He said wherever you put the money in these Medicaid programs, it seems like fraudsters go straight to the top.
