GBMC HealthCare raised more than $130,000 during its Father’s Day 5K and one-mile walk Saturday morning with the proceeds benefitting the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

According to event organizers, 528 participants and sponsors attended the annual event held at GBMC’s campus along N. Charles Street in Towson.

The event also offered the opportunity for families of NICU babies and graduates to come together for “support, community and reconnection” with hospital staff.

“Proceeds from the 5K are a significant reason why the NICU has been able to expand and grow, both physically and in support of parents,” GBMC said via press release.

The NICU at GBMC provides care for about 400 babies annually, according to the hospital.
