The community solar projects will bring clean energy to homes and cut electricity bills for low-income households.

“The community solar grant projects are a vital piece of our broader plan to make Maryland more affordable,” said Moore.

The new grants will provide electricity to low-income households at a discount of at least 25% to more than 4,800 homes.

Maryland Department of Human Services will oversee energy assistance for more than 1,000 additional households.

Solar Landscape will develop 21 rooftop solar projects in the BGE and Pepco service territories.

In coordination with the DHS, four projects will provide 50% of their output as free energy to low-income households as an augment to energy assistance.
