Harford County Public School students raised more than $216,000 to support heart health education and lifesaving research during the 2025-2026 school year.

As part of the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, students spread heart-healthy practices and fundraised to fight heart disease and stroke. More than 3,900 students also participated in Finn’s Mission, an initiative to teach Hands-Only CPR and the warning signs of stroke.

Their passions and dedication continue to inspire ands create lasting impact in our community,” said Kate Poole, Senior Development Director of School Engagement for the American Heart Association.

Out of 300 partnering Maryland schools, six Harford County Public Schools ranked among the top 25 most proficient fundraisers. For the second year in a row, Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School was the state’s leading contributor, raising a grand total of $57,579.

By learning today about the importance of service, our students are building a foundation to become strong leaders for our future,” Said Dr. Dyann R. Mack, interim superintendent of Paterson Mill Middle School.
