“Happy anniversary, because this is your 10th year judging ‘AGT,’” PauseRewind’s Kevin Zelman told Cowell at the “America’s Got Talent” auditions in Pasadena back in March.
While looking back at his time on the show, the veteran reality TV star admitted he was a bit anxious the first time he walked out as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.”
“I was nervous that first year, genuinely.” The 66-year-old continued, “I thought, ‘Oh God, you know, that first day I’ve got to walk through the audience. What if nobody does anything?’”
Obviously, the crowd erupted when they got their first glimpse of Cowell. “It was cool. There was a lot of energy,” he recalled.

But what makes Cowell come back season after season? “I mean, look, it’s actually a really fun show to do, as long as you are seeing things people you’ve never seen before. Then I find it interesting.”
“America’s Got Talent” returns this summer with Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Sofia Vergara joining Cowell at the judges’ table. Terry Crews is also returning for his eighth year hosting.
