BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A 31-year-old man has been convicted of attempted second-degree rape of a Johns Hopkins University student, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City announced Friday.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2025 near the Decker Quad.
Four days later, Baltimore police announced the arrest of Raymond Lunn, 31, in connection to the attempted sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman on the JHU campus.

Campus police said the woman was assaulted and fondled by Lunn before he fled towards Bowman Drive, where he was captured on camera.
On Friday, Lunn was found guilty of attempted second-degree rape.
“The conviction of Raymond Lunn for the Attempted Second-Degree Rape of a Johns Hopkins University student is a testament to the extraordinary courage and resilience of this survivor,” Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates said via press release. “Coming forward after experiencing such a traumatic attack is far from easy. Testifying in open court and confronting your attacker requires immense strength.”
Because this survivor chose to stand up, speak out, and trust the justice system, a dangerous offender has been held accountable. Her bravery not only secured this conviction but has undoubtedly made her campus and our city safer.”
Lunn, a registered sex offender, is a repeat violent offender with prior convictions for attempted rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, assault, and auto theft, among other related charges.
Police said Lunn has served multiple prison sentences.
Records show at the time of the attempted rape on JHU’s campus, Lunn was on probation for a 2018 conviction for second-degree attempted rape. According to court documents, Lunn targeted a FedEx worker inside a store in Pikesville.
He was then sentenced to 20 years in prison, with all but eight years suspended.
Lunn was also paroled in May 2024, but in 2025 was taken back into custody for violating his probation.
In September 2025, a judge sentenced Lunn to time served, and continued his probation.
Less than six weeks later, Lunn was accused of attempting to rape a student on JHU’s campus.
