Maryland-based company rings NYSE Closing Bell to celebrate World Quantum Day

A quantum computing hardware and software company based out of College Park, Md. rang the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Tuesday in celebration of World Quantum Day.

IonQ’s chariman and CEO Niccolò de Masi joined Tara Dziedzic, NYSE Head of US Listings, for the occasion.

The company was founded in 2015 by Dr. Chris Monroe and Dr. Jungsang Kim, and “emerged from more than 30 years of academic research and foundational trapped ion breakthroughs licensed from the University of Maryland and Duke University,” according to IonQ’s website.
