
TALBOT COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — A tornado touched down Tuesday evening near Trappe in Talbot County, according to The National Weather Service (NWS).
A storm survey will be conducted to determine the tornado’s EF rating. NWS will also assess the extent of the damage.
Residents are encouraged to use caution around damaged trees, downed power lines, and debris. Any downed utility lines should be considered energized and reported immediately to the appropriate utility provider.
Talbot County will provide additional information, including a summary of storm damage and response efforts, as it becomes available.
While Talbot County has the only confirmed tornado thus far, severe storms slammed the entire DC metro area on Tuesday.
In the Washington, DC area, both Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport were put under a ground stop due to thunderstorms.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport also issued a ground stop for departures due to the thunderstorms.
