Ocean City Passes Ordinance to BAN Beach Tents

The Ocean City Council voted Monday night to approve a measure that limits the size and placement of tents and canopies on the city’s beaches, a move intended to improve safety and accessibility.

Council members Carol Proctor, Will Savage, Jake Mitrecic and Larry Yates voted in favor of the restrictions, while Matt James and Tony DeLuca opposed them. Council member John Gehrig was absent.

Ocean City Mayor Richard Meehan also supported the measure, which takes effect immediately.

“We’re trying to make sure Ocean City remains a welcoming, safe and family-friendly beach for generations to come,” Meehan said at the council meeting. “These changes provide better access, fairness for everyone and create a better overall beach experience.”
