Gambrills (WBFF) — Two men have been arrested after they allegedly tried to steal cash from an armed driver guard leaving a McDonald’s in Gambrills last Friday morning.
On Oct. 30, around 10:40 a.m., Anne Arundel County police officers responded to the McDonald’s in the 1100 block of Crain Highway South for an attempted robbery.
Officers learned that an armored vehicle driver, often called an armed driver guard, was heading towards his vehicle with cash from the fast-food chain when a man approached him from behind.
The man attempted to grab the bag, and a physical struggle followed.
During the struggle, a second suspect jumped out an arriving car to assist in the robbery.

The armed driver guard successfully fought off both assailants.
The two men then fled the scene in the same vehicle the second suspect arrived in.
Not long after, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle and stopped it in the 1000 block of Central Avenue.
Officers took both suspects, identified as 38-year-old Ryun Watson of D.C. and 32-year-old Michael Holmes Jr. of Odenton, into custody without incident.
The Evidence Collection Unit processed both scenes, and the Criminal Investigation Division has assumed the investigation.
