Voters in Baltimore County’s Democratic primary for State’s Attorney chose Sarah David, defeating fellow Democrats Lauren Lipscomb and incumbent Scott Shellenberger.
David most recently served as deputy state prosecutor with the Maryland Office of the State Prosecutor.
David joined the office in January 2018 as a Senior Assistant State Prosecutor and was later promoted to Deputy State Prosecutor in January 2020, overseeing the agency’s strategic partnerships, legislative agenda, budget, and managing a caseload of corruption and police misconduct cases.
Her experience also includes serving as Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Judicial Proceedings Committee in the Maryland State Senate, working on legislation related to criminal and civil, family, and other areas of the law.
She also served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, where she managed a general caseload and was specially assigned to high-profile, complex prosecutions.
Outside of her prosecutorial work, David serves as president of the Board of Directors for the Women’s Law Center of Maryland and is a board member of the Macks Jewish Connection Network.
Throughout her campaign, David’s priorities included preventing violent crime, prioritizing public safety, fighting for victims of sexual assault, addressing juvenile crime with accountability and resources, and supporting victims with compassion and care.
Now, David will serve as Baltimore County’s next State’s Attorney.
