Several sick after carbon monoxide leak at Bethesda bank, high-rise apartment building

Several people became sick Thursday after carbon monoxide spread through a Wells Fargo bank and an attached high-rise apartment building in Bethesda, Maryland, fire officials said.

It happened at 8302 Woodmont Avenue. Montgomery County firefighters traced the carbon monoxide to a running generator in an attached garage.

Those who felt sick did not need to go to the hospital. The building reopened after crews cleared the air.

Woodmont Avenue at Wisconsin Avenue is closed due to the incident, and drivers should avoid the area for now.
