BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Church bells sounded outside St. Casimir Church in Canton as family and friends surrounded the caskets holding the bodies of Gigi Myrie, 15, and Steve Allen, 9.
Those in attendance wore black and yellow at the family’s request and in honor of the siblings’ favorite colors.
The mother allowed FOX45 News to share pictures of her children, as well as a statement on behalf of the family.

The statement read in part, “Steve and Gigi were deeply loved by so many, and their love, laughter, and beautiful spirits will forever remain in our hearts.”
The family went on to thank the community for their love, prayers, and messages, writing in part, “Your kindness has brought us comfort beyond words.”

It was just two weeks ago, on July 7, that the sister and brother were found fatally shot in their home in Gwynn Oak, Baltimore County, sending shock waves throughout the community and beyond.
Gigi was a student at Western High School in north Baltimore City.
The children had been on their summer break.
Neighbors recalled seeing the family celebrating outside their home around the Fourth of July.
The community remains deeply troubled by the violence and left with many unanswered questions.
Baltimore County Police have not yet released a suspected motive, and no arrests have been made.
During Tuesday’s services, hundreds of people packed inside the church for eulogies and mass.
Family and friends embraced one another as pallbearers loaded each casket into a hearse, and Gigi and Steve were transported to their final resting place.
