HOWARD COUNTY, MD. (WBFF) — Despite rumors, the beloved beaver of Buc-ee’s, a Texas-based gas station with a cultlike following, will not be finding a new home in Howard County anytime soon.
Whispers first started in the comments section of a Facebook post by Jeremy Dom talking about a potential Tim Hortons joining the string of fast-casual eateries along Broken Land Parkway in Columbia. Dom is a Howard County resident who has run a Columbia-based blog, the Merriweather Post, for the past six years.
“Now — we just need a Buc-ee’s,” one commenter wrote, sparking a deep dive by Dom on where and how to bring a Buc-ee’s to Maryland.
On Saturday, he posted his findings: a tongue-in-cheek approach of where to put the mother of all gas stations in Howard, a land-scarce county. Dom’s interest was piqued by both the comment inquiring about the gas station and his recent first-time visit to a Virginia Buc-ee’s — one of the more than 50 locations across the U.S.
