
BOWIE, Md. (7News) — A 38-year-old woman died Aug. 25 after a domestic-related shooting in Bowie, Maryland, according to the Bowie Police Department.
Officers were initially called to the 8500 block of Myrtle Avenue at around 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 20 for the shooting.

Authorities said Shawanda Alston, of Bowie, was found in the bedroom of the home with gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
“Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Ms. Alston during this unimaginably difficult time,” Chief of Police Dwayne A. Preston said in a press release sent to 7News.
According to authorities, officers arrested Kimball Alton Hinton, Jr., 41, who was found in the front yard of the home when officers arrived. They also recovered the weapon they believe was used in the crime.
