A 52-year-old woman has been convicted and sentenced for stealing from a vulnerable elderly person in an assisted living facility, according to the Maryland Attorney General’s Office.

Danielle Lucas, from Baltimore City, was sentenced to four years in prison, with all but time served, plus three years of supervised probation, and must pay restitution of $3,722.66.

Officials reported that Lucas was a caretaker at Taylor & Jackie Assisted Living Facility, and the victim, who is in her 90s, was a resident at the facility.

On October 31, 2023, and April 4, 2024, financial records showed that Lucas paid a total of $3,722.66 in her own rent using her client’s bank account.

The victim did not give the caregiver permission and was unaware of the transaction.

While the victim was at Anne Arundel Medical Center, officials said she told the staff that her caretaker may have been stealing from her.

Following her complaint, a criminal investigation was launched, and the victim has since been moved to another facility.

Lucas pleaded guilty to felony theft on June 24, 2026.
