TOWSON, Md. (WBFF) — Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier hosted a blood drive Thursday in partnership with the American Red Cross to help support the region’s blood supply as the organization warned of a national blood shortage.
The event, held at the Historic Courthouse in Towson, marked the first blood drive hosted by the Baltimore County Executive’s Office in more than 15 years.
County officials said all 45 donation appointments were filled before the drive began.

Klausmeier attended the event alongside county employees, community members and representatives from the American Red Cross to highlight the importance of volunteer blood donors.
The American Red Cross said the nation is facing a blood crisis, with donations reaching a four-year summer low.
Among those attending the event were American Red Cross of Central Maryland Board Chair Eric Lee, Vice Chair Chris Davis, District Manager Larissa Hatch and Regional Communications Manager Scott Marder.
