$1 million Powerball ticket sold in Anne Arundel County

MARYLAND (WBFF) — The Powerball jackpot may be racing past the $700 million mark, but a $1 million winning ticket was sold at a Royal Farms in Odenton.

A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold July 29 at the Royal Farms at 1558 Annapolis Road in Odenton. The ticket matched the first five winning numbers drawn Wednesday night — 30, 36, 40, 42 and 57 — but missed the $663 million jackpot because it did not match the Powerball number, 2. The winner has 182 days from the drawing date to claim the prize.

With no jackpot winner Wednesday night, the Powerball jackpot increased to an estimated annuity value of $707 million, with an estimated cash option of $309.7 million for the next drawing on Aug. 1.

The $1 million win in Anne Arundel County is the largest Powerball prize in Maryland during the current jackpot roll, which began after the jackpot was last won on May 2.

Maryland has also seen a $100,000 prize claimed by a Harford County retiree, along with 12 prizes of $50,000 on tickets sold in Annapolis (two), Beltsville, Bethesda, Greenbelt, Hyattsville, North Beach, North East, Nottingham, Sykesville, Waldorf and Wheaton.

Three of those $50,000 prizes remain unclaimed as of this morning:

• A ticket sold July 15 at Greenway Liquors, 7533 Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt
• A ticket sold July 18 at Walmart, 75 North East Plaza in North East
• A ticket sold July 18 at Wawa, 321 Buschs Frontage Road in Annapolis

In the nearly three months since the Powerball jackpot was last hit on May 2, the Maryland Lottery reported:

• Powerball sales in Maryland have been nearly $26.9 million.
• Powerball players in Maryland have won more than $5 million on those tickets.
• Maryland Lottery retailers have made more than $1.5 million in commissions from Powerball sales.
• Powerball sales have returned an estimated $6.7 million to State of Maryland programs and services, with 25 cents of each dollar in Maryland Lottery sales directed to state programs.

Powerball drawings are held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights.

The jackpot starts at $20 million and grows after each drawing in which it is not won.
