BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Halethorpe man was sentenced to four years in federal prison after admitting to illegally possessing a loaded handgun that he attempted to conceal inside a Baltimore convenience store, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.
Tevin Williams, 33, was sentenced to four years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.
Federal prosecutors said Williams, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, admitted to possessing a pistol equipped with a large-capacity magazine loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
According to court documents, a Baltimore Police officer was conducting a business check at a convenience store on July 28, 2025, when the officer noticed a man standing near a backpack wedged between an ice cream cooler and a wall.
When the officer asked whether the backpack belonged to him, the man replied that it did not.

After picking up the backpack, the officer recognized what appeared to be the shape and weight of a firearm inside. A search of the backpack revealed a loaded handgun with a large-capacity magazine.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance video from the store, which showed the individual standing near the backpack had not handled it before police recovered it.
Additional surveillance footage showed Williams entering the store after being approached by an unidentified individual.
The two walked to the back of the store, where Williams retrieved the backpack from its hiding place.
Prosecutors said Williams opened the backpack, handed items to the unidentified individual, then closed it and returned it to the space between the cooler and the wall.
Williams later admitted he possessed the firearm and ammunition found inside the backpack, according to prosecutors.
