Aberdeen, Md. (WBFF) — A woman is facing child neglect charges after police say she left her three children alone in a vehicle while she shopped at an Aberdeen Walmart on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Aberdeen Police Department, officers responded to the Walmart at 645 S. Philadelphia Blvd. around 4:40 p.m. on July 15 after receiving a report of young children left unattended inside a vehicle.
Police said an off-duty officer reported seeing three children — ages 4, 2 and 1 — alone in a running, unlocked vehicle for approximately 40 minutes while their mother was inside the store.
Officers identified the children’s mother as 32-year-old Marium Khan Ghauri, of Abingdon.

According to police, Ghauri told officers she left the children in the vehicle because they were asleep.
Following the investigation, Ghauri was arrested and charged with child neglect.
Police said the children were released to the care of their father.
The Aberdeen Police Department is reminding parents and caregivers that leaving young children unattended in a vehicle, even for a short period, can place them at significant risk and may result in criminal charges.
