NAACP South Carolina urges voters to stay informed, participate in early voting

The NAACP South Carolina Conference has issued a call urging voters to stay informed and participate in the upcoming June primary early voting period amid fierce public debate over voting rights and redistricting in the state.

The organization said it is “critical” voters remain informed, engaged, and active in the electoral process with early voting set to begin in South Carolina on Tuesday, May 26.

β€œThe strength of our democracy depends on participation,” said Brenda C. Murphy, President of the NAACP SC State Conference. β€œAs redistricting discussions move forward, we encourage every eligible voter to stay informed, verify their voting information, and take advantage of early voting opportunities in their communities.”

Early voting runs through Friday, June 5 ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, June 9. The NAACP said it is committed to protecting voters’ rights and ensuring every South Carolinian has equal access to the ballot box.
