Officer accused of on-duty rape with BPD since 2017, investigators say no new cases opened

HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — The Baltimore City Police Officer now at the center of an on-duty rape allegation investigation joined the force in 2017, the Department confirmed.

Daniel Oxendine, 32, remains in custody at the Harford County Detention Center.

A judge denied him bond during a court hearing this past Friday.

Officer Oxendine, who is currently suspended without pay from the Department, is facing six criminal counts including two counts of first-degree rape. Each of those two counts carry a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, Oxendine was assigned to the Northeast District patrol unit where he remained until this past June.

That’s when the investigation into the alleged rape began.

According to court documents, the woman told investigators the officer had responded to a domestic altercation involving her ex-boyfriend in Baltimore City, and he was later granted permission to drive her and her son to their home in Edgewood, Maryland.

Investigators wrote the woman said after the officer dropped them off, he soon after knocked on her door and told her he needed to enter the apartment and make sure it was safe and to have her son leave.

It was inside her apartment she said the alleged rape occurred.

Investigators said area surveillance cameras helped them identify Officer Oxendine as the unknown officer.

Within the court documents, investigators reiterated Oxendine was in uniform and on duty at the time of the incident.

Investigators wrote when questioned Officer Oxendine denied the rape allegation or any physical contact with the woman aside from the original domestic call in which he claimed she grabbed his arm.

According to court documents, investigators detailed how DNA swabs taken from the victim and Oxendine proved otherwise.

Oxendine was arrested and charged the day after investigators received the results of the DNA testing.

When announcing his arrest, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office detailed detectives were looking into the possibility there may be other cases and the investigation was on-going.

On Monday, a spokesperson confirmed no additional investigations have been opened at this time.

FOX45 News has requested Oxendine’s personnel file, but has not yet received the documents.

Oxendine has a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 25.
