BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — Baltimore rapper Poppa Fetti will face child sex trafficking charges in federal court after prosecutors dropped a parallel case in Baltimore County, county officials said.
Deion “Poppa Fetti” Philip, 33, was indicted on nine sex trafficking felonies in November after a monthslong probe by state and federal investigators led to the recovery of two missing girls.
But about three months after those charges were filed in Baltimore County Circuit Court, a federal grand jury indicted Philip, charging him with two counts of sex trafficking of a child and one count of transporting a minor, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland said in February.
However, the Baltimore County charges against Philip have been dropped, now that a federal indictment has been handed down, according to court filings. Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger said Monday that the federal charges involved the same victim as the state case, which is why the prosecutor dismissed it.
