Police on Sunday arrested an Annapolis man accused of shooting a dog earlier this month in Eastport.
Keith Roland Gross, 35, faces eight charges in the May 9 shooting.
When officers announced the charges, they changed their account of the encounter. The Annapolis Police Department now says the dog was on a leash when the assailant fired a handgun, hitting the animal. Authorities originally said the dog was off-leash and charged at the subject.
The department later said further investigation showed that the dog was on a leash and that the dogwalker remained in control after the animal pulled against the leash when the gunman walked by.
