The Maryland Port Administration has closed a key bridge connecting two major cargo terminals at the Port of Baltimore to truck traffic after identifying advanced deterioration in the structure.

Port officials announced Friday that the bridge linking the Dundalk and Seagirt marine terminals was taken out of service for trucks effective immediately. The bridge had already been undergoing a planned rehabilitation project when inspectors determined that further restrictions were necessary.

Despite the closure, truck access to both terminals will continue through their main truck gates, allowing cargo operations to proceed without interruption, according to the Maryland Port Administration.

The bridge will remain open to personal vehicles.
