WMATA employee assaulted while driving M54 route in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — Metro Transit Police (MTPD) are asking for help in identifying someone who assaulted a bus driver this past weekend.

According to MTPD, the assault took place while the employee was driving a Metro bus on the M54 route in Silver Spring on August 1.

The incident took place near Colesville and Woodmoor Circle, police said, and they’re investigating it as a second-degree assault.

Though officials didn’t say exactly what happened, they provided photos from the bus’s surveillance camera.
