PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A woman walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound overnight after she was shot at an illegal car meetup in Prince George’s County, Maryland, police said.
Officers were called around 3:51 a.m. Aug. 2 to the University of Maryland Capital Medical Center for a report of a walk-in shooting victim.
Investigators learned the woman had been shot at a car meetup in the 2300 block of Beaver Road, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD).

Officers said they spoke with witnesses and found the scene of the shooting. There is no word on the woman’s condition, what led to the shooting, or whether a suspect has been identified.
No one has been arrested yet.
Police warned that car meetups and street takeovers can lead to shootings, deadly crashes, and property damage. Authorities said some attendees may also carry weapons or sell drugs.
The Maryland Car Rally Task Force, which includes PGPD, Maryland State Police, and other agencies, works to prevent and break up illegal car rallies across the state.
Police urged parents to speak with their children about the risks of going to these events. Participants could be arrested or fined, and their vehicles could be impounded.
