BETHESDA, Md. (7News) — A woman is dead and a man is injured after a house fire in Bethesda, Maryland, early Wednesday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).
Crews were called around 1:30 a.m. to the 9100 block of Charred Oak Drive after a neighbor reported a house fire nearby. When firefighters arrived, they found a two-story home heavily engulfed in flames with smoke and reports of partial collapse.

Firefighters rescued a man from the home, who was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said crews “aggressively and exhaustively” searched the home for a second person. Despite a continuous search lasting about 30 to 40 minutes, a woman was found and pronounced dead.

Officials said the structure suffered major damage and is “likely a total loss.”
One firefighter was also injured and taken to the hospital.
Piringer tells 7News that firefighters also dealt with a floor and roof collapse and the flames were contained to the house.
