TAKOMA PARK, Md. (7News) — A man accused of taking several hundred dollars’ worth of lottery tickets from a Maryland gas station escaped into Washington, D.C., after running from officers.
The theft happened just after 12 p.m. on July 28 at a Marathon gas station in Takoma Park.
According to the Takoma Park Police Department, officers were called to the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, where someone told them a man had taken Maryland lottery tickets and refused to pay.

The reporting person then allegedly locked the thief inside the store until officers showed up.
Authorities said they brought the man outside and were asking him questions when he ran away.
The man crossed into D.C., prompting Takoma Park police to issue a lookout to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
There is no word on the suspect’s description or whether he has been arrested in the District.
