BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for attacking a man with a sword at Lexington Market Metro Station in August 2024.
Trillion Bryant was sentenced to life in prison for the attack, the Office of the State’s Attorney in Baltimore City announced on Friday.
On August 16, 2024, around 7:20 a.m., Maryland Transit Authority police were notified of a stabbing that occurred at the Lexington Market Metro Station in the 300 block of W. Lexington Street.
The victim was transported to Shock Trauma Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Authorities said that CCTV footage showed the victim, who did not know Bryant, exit a train car.
Then, Bryant is seen attempting to block the victim’s path, and when the victim moves towards the east exit, Bryant is seen following him behind the mezzanine level.
After a brief confrontation, the victim fled across the transfer level, and Bryant could be seen removing a sword from his backpack and chasing the victim.
Authorities said the video showed the victim fall, and then Bryant swung the sword repeatedly toward the victim’s head, striking him multiple times.
The victim was able to escape and run toward Lexington Market, where a security officer provided aid.
Officials said that Bryant briefly chased the victim before turning back and walking away on W. Lexington Street.
Bryant later entered a business in the 200 block of N. Howard Street, and was then seen leaving without his backpack and with his sweatshirt removed.
Today’s sentence ensures that the Defendant will be held fully accountable for an act of shocking and senseless violence. The survivor in this case endured a terrifying and deeply traumatic attack that nearly cost him his life,” said State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates. “No one should ever have to experience that kind of brutality while simply going about their day in Baltimore. We are grateful to the court for recognizing the severity of this crime and delivering a Life sentence that reflects the profound harm caused. This outcome brings a measure of justice to the Victim and sends a clear message that acts of extreme violence will be met with serious consequences.
Bryant was found guilty of attempted first degree murder and carrying a dangerous weapon openly in January before being sentenced on Thursday.
Now, Bryant will spend life in prison.
