On Thursday, the Baltimore Department of Transportation announced a series of temporary lane and ramp closures going into effect this weekend along the southbound Jones Falls Expressway for a mural painting.

Ahead of Mayor Brandon Scott’s annual Spring Clean-up on April 25, local artists will be painting murals along the corridor to remove graffiti and beautify the area as part of the ‘Art After Dark’ initiative.

As a result, two right lanes of the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / Interstate 83 will be closed between the 29th Street ramp and Guliford Avenue from 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 17 through 11:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19.

In addition, the following ramps will be closed during this time with detours in effect:

  • The North Avenue ramp to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83
  • The Maryland Avenue exit ramp from the southbound Jones Falls Expressway / I-83

Motorists traveling southbound on the expressway should remain alert for shifting traffic patterns within the work zone.

Because the lane closures may cause delays, drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time.
